Make a meaningful impact in a supportive elementary school setting working directly with 4th and 5th grade students. This full-time contract opportunity calls for a dedicated Social Worker (SSW) to provide a blend of special and general education support in a vibrant school community of approximately 195 students. With a manageable caseload of around 15 special education students, you’ll have the ability to foster positive change through direct interventions, small group work, and restorative practices.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- State of Michigan licensure (LARA) as a School Social Worker required
- Approval to work in schools from the Michigan Department of Education (MDE)
- Previous experience in school-based social work, especially within special education and at-risk populations, is highly valued
- Proficiency in running small intervention groups and delivering social-emotional support
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families
- Compassionate, organized, and able to adapt to student needs
Essential Responsibilities:
- Support a caseload of approximately 15 special education students, as well as at-risk general education students
- Conduct individual and group sessions to address social-emotional and behavioral needs
- Lead intervention groups and facilitate restorative practices as needed throughout the school day
- Collaborate with school staff to promote positive student outcomes and an inclusive environment
- Monitor student progress and contribute to IEP meetings and student support plans
- Maintain thorough and confidential documentation of services provided
