Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a School Social Worker for the 2026-2027 academic year. As a key resource within a dynamic educational environment, you will work onsite, collaborating with educators, families, and community organizations to address the unique needs of special education students and help shape positive outcomes for the upcoming school year.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Identifying, assessing, and evaluating the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students to guide critical interventions and support.
- Designing and implementing behavior management plans, while consulting with general and special education teachers.
- Delivering individual and group counseling sessions to support students facing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.
- Providing case management for students requiring multiple support services.
- Actively participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, student assessments, and parent conferences.
- Fostering meaningful connections between school and home, including conducting home visits as needed.
- Implementing crisis intervention strategies and responding to cases of abuse or neglect according to district policies.
Qualifications sought include:
- Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Possession of a fully licensed SW or MSW Limited License.
- One of the following: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate, Professional School Social Worker Certificate, or School Social Worker Permit.
- Current LARA license and MDE SW approval.
- Experience supporting special education students in group and 1:1 settings, preferably onsite in schools.
- Official university transcripts required at time of application.
