School-Based Social Worker - Gretna, Louisiana

Step into a pivotal role supporting student success in the New Orleans area as a school-based social worker specializing in pupil appraisal. This contract opportunity spans from ASAP through late May 2027, offering meaningful impact with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar.

You’ll engage with students primarily through evaluations and eligibility assessments for special education services. This is not your routine direct services position—instead, you’ll be crucial in orchestrating the special education qualification process, collaborating closely within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Louisiana Department of Education certification and active professional social work license
• Familiarity with Bulletin 1508
• Experience with pupil appraisal or educational assessment processes preferred
• Ability to pass district-required fingerprinting/background check and drug screen promptly
• Strong communication, assessment, and teamwork skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive student evaluations and re-evaluations to determine special education eligibility
• Attend SBLC/ABIT meetings and contribute expertise on intervention planning
• Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and coordinate follow-up testing
• Maintain clear documentation and collaboration with a team of school psychologists and educational diagnosticians
• Travel between 2-3 assigned campuses within the district as an itinerant team member
