School Social Worker - Harvey, LA

Step into a dynamic contract role supporting student success in the Pupil Appraisal Department, serving multiple campuses as part of a collaborative team. As an integral member focused on evaluations and intervention monitoring, you’ll help identify students who qualify for Special Education services—impacting lives across the New Orleans area. This full-time opportunity (35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar) runs from ASAP through May 27, 2027.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current Louisiana Department of Education Certification and Professional License required
• Background in school-based social work with experience in evaluation and assessment
• Knowledge of Bulletin 1508 and Special Education eligibility criteria strongly preferred
• Ability to coordinate and participate in team meetings such as SBLC/ABIT
• Prepared to complete district-mandated fingerprints (background check) and drug screening
• Strong organizational skills and comfortable traveling to 2–3 school sites as needed

Role Responsibilities:

• Conduct student evaluations and re-evaluations to determine Special Education eligibility
• Participate actively in Academic Behavior Intervention Team (ABIT) and SBLC meetings
• Oversee and monitor interventions, coordinating comprehensive assessments with school psychologists and educational diagnosticians
• Maintain thorough, timely documentation in accordance with district and state guidelines
• Serve as a resource for teachers and families regarding special education evaluation processes
• Collaborate on developing, implementing, and reviewing individualized plans for recommended students
