School-Based Social Worker | Ionia, Michigan

Support students’ growth and well-being by delivering vital social work services in a dynamic school environment. This contract role offers an opportunity to directly impact approximately 40 students across two elementary schools and a preschool classroom. From October 26, 2026, to May 14, 2027, you'll utilize your expertise to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of a diverse student population—all onsite in a supportive educational community.

Key Qualifications:

• Michigan Department of Education approval as a School Social Worker is required
• Prior experience in K-12 settings preferred, particularly with elementary or preschool populations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building trust with students, staff, and families
• Ability to manage caseloads, maintain accurate records, and provide crisis intervention as needed
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school climate

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs through observation, consultation, and collaboration with educational staff
• Develop and implement individualized support plans in alignment with student education programs
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions to enhance student adjustment and coping strategies
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote holistic student success
• Serve as an advocate and resource for students navigating challenges at home or in school
• Maintain documentation and prepare reports compliant with district and state standards
