Make a real impact supporting students as a Mental Health Specialist within a school environment near Lake Orion, MI. In this contract position, you'll work one-on-one and with small groups to deliver critical social-emotional support for general education students. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape positive, growth-oriented learning environments at either the elementary or high school levels for the upcoming 2025/2026 school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct social-emotional support to students individually and in groups, addressing barriers to learning and enhancing overall student wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff, offering professional development and guidance on implementing positive behavioral programs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and contribute to building-wide efforts promoting a supportive, inclusive climate.
  • Document services delivered and track student progress in compliance with state and district requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is mandatory.
  • Active Michigan LARA license in a relevant discipline (see state website for license types).
  • Eligibility can include licensed or limited licensed master’s level psychologists, school psychologists, social workers, marriage & family therapists, or professional counselors, under stipulated supervision requirements.
  • School counseling/teaching credentials considered with adherence to MI state-specific routes and licensing timelines.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting student social-emotional or behavioral growth in educational settings is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and administrators.
