School Social Worker in Lapeer, MI

Bring your expertise in mental health to a dynamic school environment and help students thrive socially and emotionally. A high school opportunity is available working primarily with general education students, offering direct individual and group counseling, as well as contributing to classroom and school-wide support initiatives. You’ll collaborate to implement positive behavior programs and support professional learning throughout the building.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (bachelor’s degrees are not accepted) and a current Michigan LARA license relevant to school mental health services. Familiarity with SOAP notes, electronic documentation, and confidence navigating Google applications are essential for effective record-keeping and communication.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in social work, school psychology, marriage and family therapy, or professional counseling (required)
• Current and valid LARA license in relevant discipline
• Alternatives include limited licensed professionals under supervision (LMSW, LPC, psychologist)
• Accepted school credentials include SCL, MDE school psychologist, school counselor license, teaching certificate with school counselor endorsement, preliminary, or temporary counselor licenses (TSCL must become LLPC or LPC within 24 months)
• Experience working with general education students in a school setting is preferred
• Proficiency in SOAP note documentation and Google Workspace tools
• Strong communication, empathy, and collaboration skills
