Qualifications:
- NM CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) Certification required (details here)
- Experience working with K-12 students in school, clinical, or community settings
- Familiarity with supporting special needs populations—particularly autism, ADHD, and developmental delays
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Must be able to travel between sites
Responsibilities:
- Deliver onsite recreational therapy sessions for a caseload of approx. 35 K-12 students
- Facilitate group games to enhance social skills for students with autism
- Structure physical activities to help students with ADHD productively expend energy
- Adapt sports/recreation to build gross motor abilities in students with developmental delays
- Promote community integration by teaching students to access local recreational resources
- Offer coping strategies, relaxation techniques, and support for students dealing with stress, anxiety, or depression
