School Social Worker in Lusby, MD

Make a difference every day by supporting students as a contracted school social worker for the upcoming academic year. This full-time opportunity spans 35 hours per week, running from August 13, 2026, to June 10, 2027. You’ll play a vital role in fostering positive student development, working across two schools in a district near Lusby, MD, with placement influenced by your age range and location preference.

You’ll collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to address challenges that impact student well-being and academic success. Candidates with direct school social work experience are especially encouraged to apply, though all licensed social workers passionate about working in educational settings will be considered.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in social work from an accredited program
• Current Maryland state social work licensure
• Educator certification from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), or willingness/eligibility to obtain it upon offer
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Experience working in or with school systems preferred but not required

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and group support for students addressing academic, behavioral, social, or emotional concerns
• Conduct assessments and intervention planning
• Liaise with families, teachers, and outside agencies to develop strategies that foster student growth
• Maintain confidential and accurate records in accordance with school and state guidelines
• Deliver crisis intervention and prevention services as needed
