As the dedicated social worker for this role, you’ll work directly with a caseload of approximately 50-60 students, though flexibility is key, as the caseload may increase. Your expertise will be crucial in providing guidance, counseling, and advocacy to elementary-aged children, collaborating closely with educators and families to foster a safe, supportive school environment.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a School Social Worker with SSW approval from the Michigan Department of Education
• Proven experience in a school-based social work setting, ideally with elementary-age students
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage a dynamic and potentially fluctuating caseload
• Collaborative attitude and a passion for supporting student development

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individual and group counseling sessions to students in need
• Assess and address barriers to academic and social success
• Develop and implement intervention plans
• Serve as a liaison between school, home, and community resources
• Participate in child study teams and contribute to IEP planning as needed
• Maintain thorough records and document all interventions
