This full-time contract opportunity focuses exclusively on serving 8th grade students, both in general and special education, covering a maternity leave from August 17 through November 27. You’ll work with a manageable, close-knit caseload of 20-25 students, offering guidance, support, and advocacy during a critical year in their academic and personal development.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program
- State licensure and credentials to practice as a School Social Worker
- Previous experience supporting adolescents in school settings is highly valued
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both students and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality in all interactions
- Familiarity with both general education and special education processes is advantageous
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct social-emotional support to assigned 8th grade students
- Collaborate with educators and staff to provide timely interventions
- Conduct social assessments and contribute to student support plans
- Facilitate group and individual counseling sessions as needed
- Communicate with families to ensure coordinated support beyond the classroom setting
- Participate in team meetings to advocate for student needs and promote a positive educational environment
