School Social Worker - Mechanicsville, MD

Assignments will be matched to your preferred age group and location within the district, allowing you to support students where you are passionate.

The school year runs from August 13, 2026, through June 10, 2027, offering a meaningful way to impact educational communities. Candidates with prior school social work experience are especially encouraged, but all licensed social workers interested in transitioning to an educational setting are welcome.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in social work required
• Current licensure to practice as a social worker in Maryland
• Educator certification from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), or eligibility and willingness to obtain this certification upon offer
• Experience working in school settings strongly preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administrators
• Demonstrated commitment to supporting diverse student populations

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support services to students by addressing social, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Participate in student intervention teams and develop strategies for student success
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and outside agencies to maximize resources for students
• Document interactions and assessments in compliance with school and state guidelines
• Help design preventative programs within the school community to foster a positive learning environment
