School-Based Social Worker - New Orleans, Louisiana

Step into a meaningful contract role as a School Social Worker serving students in the vibrant New Orleans area. In this full-time position within the Pupil Appraisal Department, you’ll leverage your expertise to support students’ educational journeys by helping determine eligibility for Special Education services. Your daily work will make a significant impact as you partner with a collaborative multi-disciplinary team that includes School Psychologists and Educational Diagnosticians.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Louisiana Department of Education Certificate and Professional License
• Solid understanding of Bulletin 1508
• Previous experience in school settings, especially with evaluations and eligibility determinations
• Comfort performing evaluations, re-evaluations, and student testing
• Proficient in attending and contributing to SBLC/ABIT (Academic Behavior Intervention Team) meetings
• Experience with monitoring intervention results and coordinating evaluations
• Flexibility to travel between 2-3 assigned schools
• Able to complete required fingerprinting/background check and drug screening in a timely manner

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations of students to determine eligibility for Special Education services
• Collaborate closely with a team of professionals on assessments and intervention strategies
• Attend and participate actively in Academic Behavior Intervention Team meetings
• Monitor student interventions and coordinate necessary follow-up
• Ensure rigorous compliance with all district, state, and federal guidelines
• Maintain thorough documentation and keep stakeholders informed throughout the process
