School Social Worker - Portage, MI

A school-based social worker position is available in Portage, MI, supporting students from kindergarten through 12th grade. This contract role requires providing direct social work services within the school environment, addressing the social and emotional needs of approximately 190 students covered under Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

The ideal candidate will be licensed as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and hold or be pursuing the 310 license. This onsite role operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, totaling 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities include supporting the existing framework of evaluations and Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), most of which have already been completed. The social worker will collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to implement interventions, provide counseling, and contribute to the development and review of IEPs to ensure compliance and meet students’ needs.

Qualifications:

• Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) required
• LMSW with 310 license preferred or actively pursuing
• Experience working in K-12 educational settings
• Familiarity with special education processes, including IEPs and FBAs
• Ability to work onsite during specified hours and maintain consistent presence
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with students, families, and school staff
