School-Based Social Worker | Rochester, Michigan

Make a real impact supporting elementary students in a dynamic K-12 district as a school social worker on a contract basis. This onsite position offers stability and meaningful engagement, working up to 35 hours per week through June 2027 with a focus in Special Education. You’ll play a key role in helping young learners thrive academically and emotionally.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Michigan school social worker certification (310) required—please provide documentation with your application.
• Direct experience or training working as a school-based social worker, ideally in elementary or special education settings.
• Confident communication and rapport-building skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and commitment to positive student outcomes.
• Ability to work independently onsite and collaborate within a supportive educational environment.
• If certification is not held, supervision must be arranged before interview consideration.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct social work services to elementary students with various needs, primarily within special education programs.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other support staff to develop and implement intervention plans.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address behavioral, social, and emotional challenges.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and support the creation of student goals.
• Foster an inclusive, safe, and supportive atmosphere, advocating for student success.
• Maintain thorough documentation and comply with district and state mandates.
