School-Based Social Worker - Schenectady, New York

This contract opportunity involves school social work in special education settings for two potential needs: a short-term assignment (September–October 2026) at an elementary school and a possible position at a high school for the 2026–27 school year.

Qualifications & Experience Desired:

• New York State Teaching Certification: School Social Worker
• Active NYS Licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); preference for LCSW
• Experience working in school and/or healthcare-based social work, with a strong understanding of special education processes and supports
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding best practices in service delivery
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to consult with educators and families to design effective intervention plans
• Team-oriented approach and a passion for advocating for students’ success

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individual and group counseling and social-emotional support to students with special needs
• Conduct assessments and develop comprehensive intervention strategies
• Consult with teachers, parents, and external providers regarding students’ individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Facilitate referrals to community resources and collaborate in multi-disciplinary meetings
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
