6th Grade 5th Grade School Social Worker - Springfield, MA

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a School Social Worker working with grades 5 through 9. In this contract position, you'll play a vital role helping students overcome challenges, develop social skills, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
• Active state licensure as a school social worker or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Experience working with students in 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and staff
• Familiarity with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports within a school setting
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical practices
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and safe school environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to students across middle and early high school grades
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to assess student needs and develop intervention plans
• Support students navigating academic, behavioral, social, or emotional challenges
• Facilitate family outreach and connect families with community resources as appropriate
• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in accordance with district and ethical guidelines
• Participate in IEP and 504 planning meetings and offer recommendations for supports and accommodations
• Promote positive school culture and contribute to initiatives addressing mental health and well-being
