Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a vital liaison among students, families, school staff, and community agencies through assertive outreach
- Assess students’ social and emotional needs and connect them to appropriate school or community-based services
- Deliver timely crisis intervention and support for students and families
- Foster strong home/school connections and assist families with challenges affecting student performance
- Participate in special education service evaluations, including assessments and social development studies
- Assist teaching staff in developing strategies to address student needs
- Address truancy, behavioral, and delinquency issues through proactive intervention
- Maintain comprehensive records of social work services
- Support students’ transitions across programs, schools, and community services
- Ensure adherence to laws and protocols regarding child protection, collaborating with community agencies as needed
- Provide trainings and lead group sessions for staff and parents
- Engage in ongoing professional development and organizational involvement
- Recommend individualized curriculum or lesson modifications
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution
- Valid Illinois School Social Worker Certificate
- At least two years of school-based experience preferred (new graduates welcome to apply)
