School-Based Social Worker - Urbana, Illinois

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a vital liaison among students, families, school staff, and community agencies through assertive outreach
• Assess students’ social and emotional needs and connect them to appropriate school or community-based services
• Deliver timely crisis intervention and support for students and families
• Foster strong home/school connections and assist families with challenges affecting student performance
• Participate in special education service evaluations, including assessments and social development studies
• Assist teaching staff in developing strategies to address student needs
• Address truancy, behavioral, and delinquency issues through proactive intervention
• Maintain comprehensive records of social work services
• Support students’ transitions across programs, schools, and community services
• Ensure adherence to laws and protocols regarding child protection, collaborating with community agencies as needed
• Provide trainings and lead group sessions for staff and parents
• Engage in ongoing professional development and organizational involvement
• Recommend individualized curriculum or lesson modifications

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution
• Valid Illinois School Social Worker Certificate
• At least two years of school-based experience preferred (new graduates welcome to apply)
