This full-time, contract position offers the opportunity to support young learners and their families, fostering a healthy school environment and promoting social-emotional growth. You’ll collaborate daily with educators, staff, and caregivers to ensure each child receives the encouragement and resources they need to thrive.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensed or certified as a School Social Worker in Michigan (or eligible)
- Previous experience working in an educational setting preferred, especially with elementary-aged children
- Strong knowledge of child development, counseling techniques, and crisis intervention
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage a full caseload and maintain accurate documentation
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct social work services to elementary students, including individual and group counseling
- Conduct assessments to identify student and family needs
- Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to each child’s needs
- Serve as a liaison between school, families, and community resources
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and provide input for students receiving special services
- Support educators and administrators with strategies for social-emotional learning and classroom management
- Respond to crises and offer support for students experiencing social or emotional challenges
