Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a school social worker for grades 5 through 9 on a contract basis. In this role, you’ll collaborate with educators and families to foster student well-being, address behavioral and social challenges, and create a positive learning environment. This opportunity is situated near the Warwick, RI area and offers the chance to serve middle and early high school students through valuable interventions and support.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program
  • Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a School Social Worker
  • Experience working with students in grades 5-9, ideally in a school setting
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to create rapport with students, staff, and families
  • Knowledge of behavioral interventions and individualized support plans

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct social-emotional support and counseling to students in grades 5-9
  • Conduct assessments and develop intervention strategies for academic, behavioral, or social challenges
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement student support plans
  • Facilitate group work and community-building activities that enhance the school environment
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to special education teams as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with school/district policies and professional standards
