Special Education Teacher in Adams, MA

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of elementary students by providing specialized instruction in a supportive environment. A full-time contract opportunity is available for skilled Special Education Teachers to support Substantially Separate Classrooms for K–1st and 3rd–5th grade students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities. The caseload includes students with varied abilities—some on the autism spectrum, some non-verbal—and may involve toileting support and collaboration with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).

Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction to students with severe disabilities, adapting curriculum to meet individual educational plans
• Implement effective strategies for students with both cognitive and physical challenges
• Utilize applied behavior analysis and specially designed instruction methods as preferred
• Support students with toileting and basic self-care needs as required
• Collaborate closely with classroom aides, therapists, and RBTs to ensure the best outcomes for each child
• Create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment that fosters student growth and independence
• Maintain accurate records on student progress and contribute to IEP meetings

Qualifications:

• Licensure as Special Education Teacher
• Experience or strong interest in working with elementary-aged students with significant needs
• Proven skills in developing and implementing specially designed instruction
• Preferred: Experience with applied behavior analysis
• Ability to support both verbal and non-verbal students with complex needs
• Compassion, flexibility, and a strong desire to promote a positive learning environment
