URGENT - Virtual Intervention Specialist | Remote Special Education Teacher - Akron, OH

Looking for a certified intervention specialist to provide virtual special education services to Ohio students? This remote teaching position allows you to work from home while delivering high-quality specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs.

The Opportunity

Serve a caseload of approximately 40-45 students across grades K-6, providing specially designed instruction in core academic areas. You'll work approximately 37.5 hours weekly, which includes direct instruction time, planning, IEP development, meetings, and collaboration with general education teachers and related service providers.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and implement IEPs with measurable annual goals and short-term objectives • Provide direct specialized instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics • Modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet individual student needs • Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion efforts • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and strategies • Conduct or participate in educational evaluations • Attend IEP meetings, parent conferences, and team meetings virtually • Maintain accurate records and documentation • Create engaging virtual lessons that keep students motivated

Required Qualifications

Active Ohio intervention specialist license required! You must hold a Master's degree and have at least 2 years of experience teaching in school settings. Experience with virtual instruction is highly preferred. Strong classroom management skills that translate to the online environment are essential, as is the ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities and needs.

Technical Needs

Reliable high-speed internet / Computer with webcam and microphone / Quiet, professional workspace / Familiarity with learning management systems and virtual platforms

Your students will have a range of needs including specific learning disabilities, other health impairments, autism spectrum disorders, and intellectual disabilities. You'll be working with supportive school teams committed to student success!
