Open Positions

1. SPED Secondary Teacher (High School/Adult Program)

• Work with older students, including pre-vocational and transition-age learners, potentially up to adult age

• Focus on functional academics, life skills, vocational readiness, and independence

• Collaborate with related service providers and support staff to implement individualized programming

2. SPED Intermediate Teacher (Middle School Program)

• Support middle school students in a self-contained setting

• Combination of academically focused instruction and some pre-vocational skill development

• Modify curriculum and instruction to meet diverse learning and communication needs

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized, differentiated instruction in a self-contained classroom

• Implement and adapt curriculum using alternative assessments as appropriate

• Support students with significant behavioral, cognitive, and communication needs

• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams

• Maintain IEP compliance and documentation in alignment with NY State regulations

Requirements

• NY State Certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities) or actively working toward licensure

  • School is open to supporting recent graduates or candidates with out-of-state licenses in transfer process

• Bachelor’s-level candidates considered; Master’s degree strongly preferred

• Strongly preferred experience with one or more of the following:

  • Level 3 autism

  • Severe behaviors

  • Alternative/augmentative communication methods

  • Students with medical or intensive support needs

• Ideal candidates will have experience with curriculum modification and non-traditional/alternative assessments
