A specialized private school in New York is seeking two Special Education Teachers to join its team immediately. The school serves students with intensive support needs in a fully self-contained environment, providing highly individualized instruction and structured programming.
Available Openings
Secondary SPED Teacher (High School / Adult Program)

Serve transition-age and older students, including those in pre-vocational programming

Emphasis on functional academics, vocational readiness, daily living skills, and independence

Support students as they prepare for post-school outcomes
Intermediate SPED Teacher (Middle School Program)

Work with middle school students in a structured, self-contained classroom
-
Blend academic instruction with emerging pre-vocational and functional skill development
-
Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning, communication, and behavioral needs
Responsibilities

Provide individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals
-
Modify curriculum and instructional strategies for students with significant disabilities
-
Utilize alternative assessments to monitor student progress

Support students using AAC and other communication modalities
-
Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, clinicians, and school leadership
-
Maintain compliance with NY State special education requirements
Qualifications
-
New York State certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities) or actively pursuing certification

Candidates with recent Master’s degrees or out-of-state licensure in the transfer process are encouraged to apply

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred
