Requirements and Desired Skills:
- Valid New York State Special Education (Students with Disabilities) licensure, or eligibility to obtain (recent graduates with a Master's or out-of-state certificates encouraged to apply—licensure support provided)
- Strong preference for candidates with a Master's degree; applicants with a Bachelor’s degree will be considered
- Proven experience developing and writing IEPs—essential for candidate consideration
- Passion for supporting elementary students with autism and a commitment to inclusive education practices
Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based, differentiated instruction tailored to students’ individual needs
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment promoting academic, social, and emotional growth
- Communicate regularly with families, support staff, and administration
- Maintain accurate records and comply with state and district reporting requirements
Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM (with a 30-minute, unpaid break) across approximately 35 hours weekly, while earning between $35 and $47 per hour based on experience and credentials. The school operates year-round, taking respected holiday and spring breaks to promote work-life balance.
