Special Education Teacher | Albany, New York

An exciting contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher skilled in supporting Grade 8 learners in both English and Social Studies as a co-teacher. This role is conveniently situated near Albany, NY, and offers the opportunity to impact students over the upcoming academic year, beginning August 17, 2026, and continuing through June 22, 2027.

This position involves working alongside another educator to manage a shared caseload of approximately 13 students, focusing on tailored learning strategies to foster growth and achievement. Collaboration with related services staff and parents will be essential in developing and implementing effective Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Educator License with Special Education Endorsement
• Ability to draft, maintain, and carry out IEPs to promote each student’s progress
• Collaboration skills to work closely with general educators and support staff in a co-teaching setting
• At least two years of recent teaching experience, preferably in a special education setting

Key Responsibilities:

• Co-teach English and Social Studies to Grade 8 students, differentiating instruction to meet individual needs
• Share responsibility for a caseload of around 13 students, ensuring all accommodations and modifications are met
• Write, monitor, and update IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Collaborate with other teachers and related services staff to support student success
