Special Education Teacher Job – Therapeutic Day School in Albany, New York

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our therapeutic day school team in Albany, NY. In this role, you'll work with a multidisciplinary team to provide individualized instruction and behavioral support that empowers students to achieve academic, social, and emotional success.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that align with students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals.
• Monitor student progress through ongoing assessments, data collection, and progress reporting.
• Modify curriculum and instructional materials to accommodate individual learning needs.
• Maintain accurate educational records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a closely related field.
• Valid New York State Special Education Teaching Certification (or eligibility to obtain certification before employment).
• Experience working with students with emotional disabilities, behavioral challenges, autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, or multiple disabilities is preferred.
