This is an onsite position with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., totaling approximately 35 hours per week. The workday includes a 30-minute unpaid break. The assignment begins as soon as possible and runs through the end of the current school year. Position Overview
Soliant Education is seeking a qualified Teacher of Students with Disabilities to support a self-contained classroom serving students on the autism spectrum between the ages of 5 and 8. There are currently one to two openings based on program needs. The educator will provide structured, individualized instruction while fostering a supportive and consistent learning environment. This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each student receives appropriate academic and behavioral support.
Responsibilities
The Special Education Teacher will develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with each student’s needs and goals. The role includes writing, updating, and maintaining Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and district guidelines. The teacher will track student progress, adjust instructional strategies, and maintain accurate documentation. Ongoing communication with support staff, related service providers, and families is an essential part of this position.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a New York State license in Special Education (Students with Disabilities) or be actively working toward certification. Applicants who have recently earned a master’s degree or are transferring an out-of-state license may be considered, as the school is often supportive in these situations. While bachelor’s-level candidates are welcome to apply, a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Prior experience writing IEPs is required, and candidates should be prepared to discuss their experience and approach during the interview process.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay rate ranges from $37.50 to $52.50, depending on experience, licensure status, education level, and other relevant factors. This contract position offers health, dental, and vision insurance, along with a 401(k) plan. Employees are paid weekly through Soliant Education.
Application Process
Qualified candidates will complete an initial phone screening with a recruiter prior to being submitted to the school district for consideration.
