Situated in a specialized private school, you’ll join a tight-knit team serving 78 students across 10 self-contained classrooms (8:1:3 ratio). The student body comprises learners with level 3 autism, significant cognitive challenges, and alternative communication needs, offering rich opportunities for growth in autism education and severe disabilities. Whether you’re a Middle or High School educator, your skills will be celebrated and deepened in a supportive, collaborative setting.

Key Qualifications:

  • NY State licensure in Special Education (Students w/ Disabilities), or actively obtaining NY license.
  • Recent graduates with a Master's or out-of-state license eligible for assistance in credential transfer.
  • Experience with level 3 autism, significant behavioral challenges, or non-verbal/alternative communication students highly valued.
  • Preferred background in alternative assessments and curriculum modification.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and adapt curriculum to diverse learner needs.
  • Manage and complete comprehensive paperwork and IEPs outside standard classroom hours (up to 40 hrs/wk possible).
  • Foster engagement and progress using alternative communication methods.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support students’ academic and personal growth.
