Step into a rewarding contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year supporting students with special needs near Albion, IL. This full-time position spans from August 12, 2026, through May 21, 2027, with working hours of 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each day includes a paid 30-minute lunch and a 1-hour planning period, totaling approximately 39 hours per week.
You may be assigned to either 3rd or 8th grade, with the final grade level to be determined closer to the start date. The role involves a dynamic combination of self-contained teaching along with push-in and pull-out services, delivering instruction in core subjects such as math, reading, science, and social studies. Candidates must be flexible, as your skills may be critical wherever students need the most support.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement (PK-22)
- Direct experience writing IEPs, including setting goals and completing documents independently
- Proven ability and confidence managing student behaviors, especially with students who have behavioral disorders
- Willingness to consider both 3rd and 8th grade placements
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to individual student needs
- Design engaging lessons in accordance with IEP goals across multiple subjects
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports both academic and behavioral growth
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success
