Special Ed Teacher | Alexandria, Virginia

A Special Education Teacher is sought to provide dedicated support and instruction to students aged 5-22 in a dynamic school setting within the Fredericksburg, Virginia area. This contract position involves delivering tailored educational programs to meet the diverse needs of students with special needs, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on students’ unique abilities and goals
• Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to accommodate various learning styles and disabilities
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, counselors, and parents, to support student development
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of performance and behavioral observations
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages engagement and independence
• Manage classroom behavior using effective strategies and positive reinforcement

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification/license
• Experience working with students ages 5-22 in a special education setting
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, best practices, and IEP development
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families
• Ability to design differentiated instruction and use assistive technology as needed
