Step into a dynamic role impacting students' lives across multiple specialized programs during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity places you in an itinerant substitute position, supporting various classrooms and student populations in Lehigh and Carbon Counties. The assignment runs from August 10, 2026, through June 11, 2027, for 35 hours each week, with schedules aligned to the school day.

Candidates must reside within a 35-minute commute of assigned sites. Adaptability and a collaborative spirit are essential, as you may step into different classrooms to provide continuity in instruction and support during absences, leaves, or periods of need.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and specialized instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals
  • Support a range of program needs, including autism programs, MDS functional or Level B classrooms, and enhanced emotional support settings
  • Employ effective classroom management and behavioral support strategies
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, clinical staff, administrators, and families
  • Maintain flexibility and strong communication while transitioning between locations
  • Implement ABA-informed strategies, behavioral intervention plans, and communication or sensory supports, where appropriate
  • Document progress, outcomes, and daily activities in accordance with program guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required or preferred by specific assignment)
  • Special education classroom experience
  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs
  • Strong background in autism support, emotional support, or multiple disabilities preferred
  • Effective at managing challenging behaviors and promoting emotional regulation
  • Experience in IU or specialized setting is a plus
