We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to support students in a High Behavioral Needs program for the upcoming school year. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who is passionate about helping students overcome behavioral challenges while fostering academic, social, and emotional growth.

The ideal candidate will have strong classroom management skills, experience implementing behavior intervention strategies, and the ability to build positive relationships with students who require intensive behavioral support.

Position Details:
Location: near Amarillo, New Mexico
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Contract Dates: August 10, 2026 – May 20, 2027
School-Based Position
Interviews Available Immediately
Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with significant behavioral and emotional needs
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Positive Behavior Supports
  • Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies as needed
  • Develop and monitor IEP goals and progress
  • Collaborate with school staff, administrators, related service providers, and families
  • Create a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Maintain compliance with all special education documentation requirements

Qualifications:
Active New Mexico Special Education Teaching License required
Experience working with students with high behavioral needs preferred
Knowledge of behavior management techniques and crisis intervention strategies
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations
