Special Education Teacher - Americus, Kansas

Desired Qualifications:

• Holds a valid Kansas Special Education (SPED) teaching license
• Experience working in early childhood and/or elementary settings
• Skilled in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders and intensive skill-building strategies
• Adaptable, patient, and committed to best practices in special education
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities for partnering with fellow educators, families, and specialists

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and differentiated support to students in an early childhood and elementary intensive skills/autistic classroom
• Assess individual student needs and develop tailored IEPs aligned with district and state guidelines
• Implement evidence-based instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional strategies
• Create a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom atmosphere
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
• Regularly communicate progress and challenges to parents/guardians and school teams
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with local and federal regulations
