Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification in Special Education
- Prior experience teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized instructional strategies
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, families, and support staff
- Outstanding communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized lesson plans tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
- Provide direct instruction and support for students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Serve as case manager: coordinate and lead IEP meetings, track progress, and maintain thorough documentation
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, therapists, and families to ensure cohesive support
- Create an inclusive and safe classroom environment that fosters student growth and independence
- Encourage and facilitate positive social, emotional, and academic outcomes for all students
