Special Education Teacher in Andover, MN

Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities Teacher at the elementary K-2 level. This full-time contract position starts at the end of February and runs through early June 2027, offering you the opportunity to make a long-lasting difference. You’ll work weekdays from 8am to 4pm, providing specialized instruction to a caseload of approximately 10 students in a nurturing, resource-rich setting.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher license required
• Experience teaching students with developmental cognitive disabilities strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of best practices in individualized education planning and implementation
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with general educators, support staff, and families
• Ability to create and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in a K-2 classroom
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive environment that supports social, emotional, and academic growth

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) targeting student growth in cognitive, academic, and social domains
• Adapt curriculum and apply targeted interventions to meet diverse learner needs
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as needed
• Engage closely with families and communicate regularly about student goals and achievements
• Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to align strategies and maintain a team-focused approach
