Special Education Teacher - Andover, Minnesota

Make a lasting impact as a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This contract position offers the opportunity to work on-site, supporting elementary-aged students and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.

In this role, you will work with a manageable caseload of approximately nine students with developmental cognitive disabilities. Each day brings the chance to use your expertise, compassion, and creativity to help students achieve their potential, all within a supportive school community. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, with a full-time commitment of 37.5 hours per week during typical school hours.

Qualifications:

• Valid Minnesota Teaching Certification (Tier 3 or Tier 4)
• Experience or strong interest in working with students with developmental cognitive disabilities
• Demonstrated ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to develop and adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet unique student needs
• Must be able to provide certification and resume upon application

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students in self-contained and inclusive settings
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
• Write and implement IEPs, ensuring goals are tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
• Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
• Create a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom atmosphere
• Maintain records in compliance with state and federal regulations
