Make a meaningful difference every day as a Special Education Teacher working with students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) in a collaborative, supportive elementary school environment. The assignment is based at an elementary school, serving a manageable caseload of around nine students, providing focused, personalized instruction and support.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching Certification (Tier 3 or 4 required)
- Experience working with students with developmental cognitive disabilities is highly valued
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for engaging with students, staff, and families
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Dedication to creating a positive, accommodating classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of each student with DCD
- Assess, monitor, and document student progress, ensuring goals within IEPs are met
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and classroom happenings
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to support learning and classroom engagement
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development opportunities
This onsite role offers a steady weekday schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., totaling 37.5 hours weekly (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day). The assignment runs from late August 2026 to early June 2027, aligning with the academic calendar.
