Step into a rewarding contract position supporting K-12 students as a Teacher of the Physically Impaired. This on-site role spans the academic year from August 24, 2026, to May 28, 2027, with a weekly schedule of 37.5 hours. You'll play a vital role in enhancing accessibility and driving student success by collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Minnesota Special Education (SPED) licensure with Physical and Health Disabilities (P/HD) endorsement
- Proven experience in special education, particularly supporting students with physical/health needs
- Familiarity with Due Process Management, including conducting functional evaluations and developing IEPs
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with occupational therapists, physical therapists, and general educators
- Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments at the K-12 level
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide itinerant support, including consultation on curriculum modifications, assistive technology integration, and classroom accessibility
- Conduct and document functional evaluations, create individualized education plans, and monitor student growth
- Maintain up-to-date records for compliance with due process requirements
- Partner with school staff and families to develop and implement student-centered strategies
- Serve as a resource to colleagues, offering guidance on best practices in supporting students with physical and health disabilities
