Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education (State of Illinois or eligible to obtain)
  • Qualifications or endorsements in Science preferred
  • Experience working with middle or high school students in special education environments
  • Strong understanding of IEP processes and documentation
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, differentiated science curriculum
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for science classes in accordance with students' IEP goals
  • Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications to ensure student engagement and success
  • Collaborate with fellow educators, case managers, and related services staff as a valued member of the student’s support team
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to data-driven decision making
  • Monitor and track student progress toward academic and behavioral objectives
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where all students feel valued
