Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (State of Illinois or eligible to obtain)
- Qualifications or endorsements in Science preferred
- Experience working with middle or high school students in special education environments
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and documentation
- Ability to create and deliver engaging, differentiated science curriculum
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Comfortable adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for science classes in accordance with students' IEP goals
- Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications to ensure student engagement and success
- Collaborate with fellow educators, case managers, and related services staff as a valued member of the student’s support team
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to data-driven decision making
- Monitor and track student progress toward academic and behavioral objectives
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where all students feel valued
