This contract opportunity is for an LBSI-certified Special Education Teacher working with 8th grade students at two closely located middle schools near Arlington Heights, IL. With a dynamic environment and a blend of co-taught and resource classes, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while collaborating with experienced education professionals.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Illinois LBSI Special Education certification (or eligibility)
  • Experience teaching special education at the middle school level, including co-teaching and resource settings
  • Strong background in resource supports and differentiated instruction for students with diverse learning needs
  • Confidence managing small groups (approximately 8-10 students per resource class)
  • Ability to work independently across two nearby school sites
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and supports in both co-taught and resource class settings for 8th grade students
  • Adapt curriculum, develop accommodations, and support IEP implementation
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, case managers, and support staff
  • Utilize strong organizational skills to manage a schedule that includes half-days at each middle school (just a 5-minute drive apart)
  • Provide a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages student growth
  • Participate in professional development and team meetings as required

This contract position is full-time (35 hours/week, plus a 30-minute lunch daily) with consistent daytime hours Monday through Friday. The assignment begins August 17, 2026, and concludes May 28, 2027, with the option to attend new teacher orientation if onboarding is completed in early August.
