Make a difference in the lives of elementary students by supporting their learning in a compassionate, close-knit setting. We’re seeking a dedicated special education professional to work in an elementary self-contained classroom for students in 4th and 5th grade (class size of 7-8). This contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 school year and offers the chance to start with a new teacher orientation if onboarded before the academic year begins.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Valid LBSI (Learning Behavior Specialist I) certification or equivalent as recognized by the state
  • Previous experience working with students in a self-contained special education setting, preferably at the upper elementary level
  • Familiarity with Unique Learning System or STAR curriculum a plus
  • Comfort with collaborating in a supportive, multi-classroom environment
  • Strong communication skills for partnership with fellow educators, students, and families
  • Passion for individualized teaching, development of IEPs, and differentiated instruction

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement tailored instruction for students based on individual needs, IEP goals, and district guidelines
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that encourages academic, social, and behavioral growth
  • Collaborate closely with related service providers, teaching assistants, and support staff within a building dedicated to self-contained programming
  • Adapt curriculum and classroom management strategies for diverse learning profiles
  • Regularly communicate with families to share progress and encourage engagement
  • Complete documentation and reporting as required by the district

This position follows a Monday to Friday schedule (with adjusted hours on Wednesdays), totaling 35 hours each week and includes a 30-minute daily lunch break. Enjoy the support of colleagues experienced in self-contained programming and access extensive resources to enhance your teaching practice.
