Special Education Teacher | Arlington Heights, Illinois

In this full-time contract position, you’ll provide instruction and support to elementary-aged learners within a self-contained classroom setting. With a schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm, you’ll have the opportunity to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for students in grades 3-5.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education (Illinois or transferable credential)
• Prior experience teaching in a self-contained or special education classroom preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP processes and implementation
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide behavioral support tailored to individual needs

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in your class
• Deliver engaging, standards-based lessons adapted to meet diverse learning abilities
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related services staff to maximize student growth
• Assess student progress and maintain thorough, accurate documentation
• Create a positive, safe classroom environment that nurtures social and academic development
• Communicate regularly with families and contribute to team meetings and parent conferences
