Exciting opportunities await educators passionate about Special Education! This full-time contract position is available for both K-2 and High School classrooms, located in a vibrant community near Arlington Heights, IL. You’ll work closely with a small group of students—currently nine, with a maximum of ten—ensuring individualized attention and support throughout the academic year, beginning October 12 or November 9 through end of school year.
In this role, you’ll be supported by dedicated paraprofessionals within your classroom as well as receive comprehensive backing from the principal and the Speech-Language Pathologist. This collaborative environment ensures you have the resources needed to create an inclusive and dynamic learning experience.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Extensive experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Prior experience supporting children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
- Familiarity managing and adapting curriculum for various educational levels (K-2 or High School)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to the unique needs of each student
- Foster a safe, supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages growth and participation
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, SLP, and school administrators to optimize student outcomes
- Adapt teaching strategies and utilize specialized devices/materials, including AAC technology
- Monitor and document student progress, communicating effectively with families and team members
