This contract opportunity offers a chance to work with students ages 5-22 in self-contained classrooms designed for learners with severe and behavioral challenges. As a special education professional certified for grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12, your expertise is essential in creating an inclusive, supportive setting where each student can thrive.
Schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm, providing a consistent routine and a total of 40 hours per week.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification covering grades K-12.
- Experience in managing severe and behavioral classroom settings.
- Flexibility to teach multiple subjects based on the diverse age range and needs of students.
- Strong classroom management skills, particularly in self-contained environments.
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Exceptional communication and collaborative skills with colleagues, support staff, and families.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to small groups (maximum 9 students per class).
- Foster a positive, structured, and patient classroom atmosphere tailored to behavioral and educational needs.
- Develop and implement lesson plans across multiple subjects aligned with students’ individualized goals.
- Track and report student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary for ongoing growth.
- Collaborate closely with aides, therapists, and other specialists to maximize student support.
- Foster student independence, social skills, and self-advocacy within the classroom.
