Special Education Teacher - Arlington, VT

Take your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to a vibrant educational setting supporting middle school learners in a self-contained classroom. This full-time, contract opportunity is available for the 2026-2027 academic year and features a manageable caseload of 6–10 students in grades 6–8. Your skills will directly impact students’ growth and development while you collaborate with an encouraging school community.

Qualifications:

• Special Education certification in Vermont preferred; candidates with pending certification will also be considered
• Experience teaching or supporting middle school students (grades 6–8) strongly desired
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction
• Effective communication and organizational abilities
• Ability to foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
• Dedication to meeting the diverse social, emotional, and academic needs of each student

Responsibilities:

• Teach and support students in a self-contained special education classroom
• Adapt curriculum and instruction to address students’ varied learning styles and abilities
• Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, student services personnel, and families
• Maintain records, progress reports, and data collection as required by school and state policies
• Help create a classroom culture that promotes respect, engagement, and safety
