Make an incredible impact as a Special Education Teacher serving students with complex needs in a highly supportive environment. Collaborate with dedicated teams at elementary campuses with strong district backing, ensuring that contracted professionals feel valued and connected.

Enjoy working in a small classroom setting (7-15 students) with access to consistent push-in support from specialists, including SLP, OT, PT, and Psych services. Be a leader in your classroom by guiding paraprofessionals, shaping individualized plans, and implementing research-based supports for students with severe cognitive disabilities—many of whom are non-verbal or demonstrate significant behaviors.

Key qualifications and desired experience:

  • Current Colorado Department of Education Teacher License with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement required
  • Hands-on experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorder (especially those who are non-verbal); AAC knowledge highly valuable
  • Skilled in functional behavior assessments (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP)
  • Proven ability to manage classroom staff and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with station-based learning models and best practices for students with significant needs
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with challenging behaviors, such as elopement, physical aggression, or self-injury

Role responsibilities:

  • Develop and adapt individualized lesson plans centered on structured learning and positive behavioral supports
  • Manage and mentor classroom paraprofessionals, fostering a collaborative atmosphere
  • Coordinate with related services and general education staff for integrated support
  • Accurately document progress and maintain communication with families and district staff
  • Participate in interviews and potentially follow-up meetings with school teams to ensure best fit
