3rd Grade 2nd Grade Special Education Teacher - Asheville, NC

This contract opportunity focuses on working with 2nd and 3rd grade students in an adapted curriculum, intensive intervention classroom setting. You’ll guide approximately 10 students with the support of two talented teacher assistants, providing meaningful instruction and individualized support during a standard school week (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM).

Qualifications:

• Active special education teacher license and relevant state certification
• Experience or strong familiarity with adapted curriculum and intensive intervention strategies
• Skill in teaching 2nd and 3rd grade, especially in elementary school settings
• Genuine passion for inclusive education and differentiated instruction
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing and delivering individualized education plans tailored to each student’s needs
• Leading daily lessons and activities for a class of about 10 students, utilizing evidence-based practices in special education
• Collaborating closely with two teacher assistants to implement interventions and ensure a supportive classroom environment
• Monitoring and documenting student progress and adapting strategies as needed
• Communicating regularly with families and related service providers to support student growth
