Winchester School is a PreK–8 public school serving a diverse student population in Winchester, New Hampshire. We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year.
This position offers the opportunity to support students across kindergarten through eighth grade, providing specialized instruction and interventions that help students achieve academic success and reach their individual goals.
Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher will manage a caseload of approximately 20–25 students, depending on grade level assignments, certification, and experience. Students served will have a variety of educational needs, with the majority identified under:
Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
Other Health Impairment (OHI)
Speech or Language Impairment (SLI)
The primary focus of this role is providing Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) in the areas of reading, mathematics, and writing.
Responsibilities
Provide individualized and small-group specialized instruction in reading, math, and writing.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success.
Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and parent conferences.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with state and federal special education requirements.
Support students in inclusive and specialized educational settings as appropriate.
Qualifications
Valid Special Education certification/licensure appropriate for K–8 students.
Ability to provide effective instruction and interventions across multiple grade levels.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Experience supporting students with SLD, OHI, and SLI preferred.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Schedule
Staff Hours: 7:15 AM – 2:35 PM
Student Hours: 7:25 AM – 2:15 PM
Lunch: 25 minutes
Daily Prep Time: 45 minutes
Caseload
Approximately 20–25 students
Caseload and grade-level assignments may vary based on experience, certification, and school needs.
