Special Education Teacher - Athens, Georgia

This onsite, contract opportunity offers the chance to work in both an elementary setting supporting students with significant needs in a self-contained classroom, as well as a middle school environment focused on ASD and adaptive curriculum instruction. Qualifications & Certifications:

• Active Georgia Special Education Teaching License with all appropriate endorsements (ADAPTIVE SPED CERT and/or SPED GENERAL CURRICULUM CERT required)
• Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and those with significant academic and physical needs preferred
• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained setting at North Jackson Elementary (Autism Level 3, high physical and academic needs)
• Teach in a self-contained classroom at West Jackson Middle School, focusing on Level 1 ASD or adaptive MI/MO curriculum
• Work closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, parents, and school staff
• Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs, track progress, and document outcomes
• Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to meet individual student needs
• Participate in team meetings and professional development
