This onsite, contract opportunity offers the chance to work in both an elementary setting supporting students with significant needs in a self-contained classroom, as well as a middle school environment focused on ASD and adaptive curriculum instruction. Located near Athens, GA, this position is ideal for professionals passionate about individualized instruction and dedicated to helping students achieve their fullest potential.

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Active Georgia Special Education Teaching License with all appropriate endorsements (ADAPTIVE SPED CERT and/or SPED GENERAL CURRICULUM CERT required)
  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and those with significant academic and physical needs preferred
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained setting at North Jackson Elementary (Autism Level 3, high physical and academic needs)
  • Teach in a self-contained classroom at West Jackson Middle School, focusing on Level 1 ASD or adaptive MI/MO curriculum
  • Work closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, parents, and school staff
  • Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs, track progress, and document outcomes
  • Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to meet individual student needs
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development
